Rangers Kill Nine Suspects In Lyari

KARACHI: Rangers Killed at least nine suspects in Lyari after a clash between two armed groups left 15 people dead in the neighborhood.

As many as 56 suspects were also arrested as the paramilitary soldiers entered Lyari to contain the situation.

Sources said that the suspects killed by Rangers were affiliated with baba Ladla group of a Lyari gang. They said that arms were also recovered during the raids.

3 Robbers Nabbed By Citizens In Karachi

KARACHI: Three robbers were apprehended by residents of the city and handed over to the police in Baldia Ittehad Town.

Police said the robbers were looting the public at a bus stop in Ittehad town area, when the citizens from around the locality caught them red-handed, roughed them up and handed them over to the police.

Stolen goods and motorbikes were recovered from the possession of robbers, police said.

Musharraf' counsel barred from defending his client

ISLAMABAD: Former president Pervez Musharraf's counsel Rana Ijaz advocate was stopped by the security personnel from entering into the special court hearing the high treason case on Wednesday here, Geo News reported.

Talking to media outside the special court here, Rana Ijaz said that he has been told to tender apology for his attitude and on refusal his entry into the court has been banned.

He said he was the lawyer of Musharraf and he was being prevented from defending his client.

Rana Ijaz was yesterday asked by the special court Justice Faisal Arab to get out of the courtroom, following his misdemeanor during the hearing.

Dr Aamir Liaquat arrives in Mithi with relief goods

MITHI: A delegation of Mehmooda Sultana Foundation, led by prominent host of Geo TV dr Aamir Liaquat Hussain arrived in mithi with relief goods.

Dr Aamir distributed goods among the affectees of Tharparkar drought in village puwasar. The goods included dry milk, flour, thousand of bottles of water, juices and medicines.

The delegation also offered specia; prayer "Nawaz-e-Istasqa" (Prayer for rain) in the desert area. The prayer was led by Allama Bashir Farooq Qadri.

Puwasar is a village of drought-hit Mithi where government and NGOs were yet to start relief activities.

Rupee further strengthens, dollar selling at Rs 100

KARACHI: Dollar further plunged to Rs 100 in interbank, as the exporters queued to sell dollars on Tuesday, Geo news Reported.

Dealers said that since March 1 until this day dollar fast eroding its value became cheaper by Rs 5.

The fast devaluation of dollar panicked those exporters who had parked their dollars out of the financial system in hope of earning premium. Watching the new trend evolve, their nerves broke down as they head to hit the market.

Yesterday also dollar had plummeted by Rs 1.66 to close at Rs 101.46 Dealers said that Pakistan is expected to get more than 1 billion dollar from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) reducing pressure of the re-payments and cushioning the value of rupee.

The continued stabilization in the value of rupee will be instrumental in cost of imports cut and help reduce commodities prices in the country, said the market analysts.

Nisar says no army man to be included in new talk committee

ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said no army representative will be included in the new committee for talks with the Taliban. He, however, added that the armed force backed the panel, which he said would be announced within two to three days.

He said that the committee will consist of three or four bureaucrats to hold direct talks with the Taliban.


The Minister clarified that the army at no stage had expressed concerns over the talk committee or negotiation process.

"Army's behavior has always been positive," he said and added that Maulana Samiul Haq's committee will move forward the process.

Mother of Islamabad suicide attacker emerges

ISLAMABAD: A women has disclosed that her son blew himself up during the deadly attack on am Islamabad district court which claimed almost 11 lives including a judge.

Sources said that a correspondence between the intelligence and law enforcement agencies revealed that palwasha Khan had told the investigators her son Fidaullah, who went missing on Janary 9, was involved in the attack.

She further told the intelligence agencies by telephone that a report was also, lodged with the Iqbal Town Police Station in Lahore about Fidaullah's disappearance, the sources said.

The correspondence further stated the woman claimed that mastermind of the court attack owned a restaurant.

Malala Yousafzai urges for better portection of children

LONDON:  On Commonwealth Day, Malala Yousafzai has urged the Commonwealth countries to provide better assistance for the protection of children.

She was addressing an event organized in Westminster abbey to celebrate Commonwealth Day.

Malala said it's an honor for her to be there. She said the forum of Commonwealth is basically like a family for all the nations around the world, where no one is judged on the basis of religion, race or gender.

She said that schol-going kids face a lot of trouble every day.
Especially children in pakistan, India and various African countries have to deal with many hurdles like poverty, violence and cultural barriers in order to get education.

The young schoolgirl activist has requested the Commonwealth to guard children worldwide from being exploited through child labour and trafficking.

2 Killed, 3 Injured in Turbat Firing

TURBAT: Some unknown people gunned down two persons and injured three at pedak in the outskirts on Tuesday morning here, Geo News Reported.

Levies Force confirmed that some unidentified people abruptly opened fire on five passers-by in pedak town, Killed Shah Mir and Jamal on the spot, while the other three sustained injuries. The injured were shifted to Turbat Civil Hospital for medical aid.

The motive behind the firing could not be immediately known.

11 Khasadar force personnel, child killed in Jamrud twin blasts

JAMRUD: Two vehicles of the Khasadar force escorting anti-polio teams were attacked in the Jamrud Tehsil of khyber Agency. At least 11 personnel of the force and a child were killed in the blasts while several others were injured.

according to the political administration, the back-to-back blasts took place in the Lashoro area of Jamrud followed by firing. Police said the anti-polio team members remained unharmed and took shelter in a nearby house following the explosions.

Those injured in the blasts were rushed to hospitals in Peshawar.

Pakistan is one of the few remaining countries where polio persists and most cases found in its northwest, where militants make it difficult to reach children for vaccination.

Washak Convoy attack: 3 security men killed, 5 injured

QUETTA: Three security personnel were killed and five sustained injuries as their convoy under attack in Washak district on Saturday, Geo News reported.

sources said that some unidentified armed persons opened fire on a convoy of security forces that killed three security personnel and wounded five.

Official sources said that a shootout between the armed persons and security forces was still underway.
